The single business communication ComUnica (Comunicazione unica) is the central procedure through which sole proprietorships and companies in Italy have been able, since 2010, to submit all major notifications to the competent authorities in a single step. These include the establishment of a business, changes to company data, and the termination of business activities.
Instead of submitting several separate applications, the information is automatically forwarded to the Companies Register, the Italian Revenue Agency (Agenzia delle Entrate), INPS (the national social security institute), INAIL (the national Institute for Insurance against accidents at work), and — depending on the type of activity — to the competent craft authorities and municipalities.
The filing is carried out exclusively electronically, using a digital signature and a certified email address (PEC).
Since ComUnica informs several authorities at the same time, the procedure is primarily intended to simplify bureaucratic requirements and ensure a uniform and efficient notification process. In practice, ComUnica is usually prepared and submitted by a notary or the competent tax advisor.
